Described by Le Corbusier as a "Romantic Revolutionary", and a man of many talents, Flavio de Carvalho applied consistently provocative processes to various artistic fields from the 1930s onwards, particularly in the fields of design and architecture. His creations were predominantly guided by his imagination in the areas of new forms of thought and habitat that appeared in 1930s Brazil. Now recognised as one of the precursors of the modernist movement in architecture, interior design, and building architecture, Flavio de Carvalho viewed the three as inseparable. It is based on this idea that he designed furniture for the hacienda Capuava, completed in the 50s with the FDC1 armchair, currently produced by Objekto. Inspired by a tribal mask, this sculptural armchair is the perfect addition to interiors with pure lines.
Objekto is a Brazilian brand with a contemporary product catalogue combining quality, aesthetics and sophistication. Objekto's designers loose themselves in their imaginations to produce an alternative to contemporary design. Objekto sells one of the brand's most famous armchairs: the Paulistano, a 50s icon, which is now accessible to all and no longer coveted by collectors. Another major classic, the FDC1 armchair designed by Flavio de Carvalho is inspired by a tribal mask.
