The talented Jaime Hayon, awarded designer of the year in 2010 at the Maison & Objet fair, designed a chair for the Magis brand. It is the result of a bold combination of materials. The base is available in black or white solid natural beechwood, topped by a seat made from epoxy resin-varnished steel tubes. The backrest and seat are cushioned in expanded polyurethane upholstered in fabric, or leather for a more sophisticated look. The Piña chair features beautiful geometrical patterns through the intertwining of steel wires, and flexible metal acheived thanks to an innovative technical process gives the structure an airy look. The upholstered appearance of the wire mesh creates a stunning visual illusion, as if the structure was made of "soft" material that is then inflated. Piña is a small, appealing armchair that plays on the contrasts of materials found in the rigidity of the shell and the softness associated with the comfortable, upholstered seat cushions.
Born in 1974, Jaime Hayon studied design in Madrid and then Paris, and now divides his time between London, where he lives, Barcelona, where his team is based, and Treviso, home to his production workshop. Heir to Dalí and Almodóvar, his baroque universe is a hybrid blend of art, decoration, crafts and industrial design. He has designed washrooms that look like dressing tables for ArQuitects, moccasins for Camper and candleholders for Baccarat. He works with some of the biggest brands: Bosa (the Bubbles lamp), Lladro (The Masquerade collection of candlesticks), Magis (the Pina armchair)... The Showtime collection for BD Barcelona is surely one of his best-known, with its intriguing, eye-catching leather upholstered armchair. Jaime Hayon claims a return to style as a unique and singular signature. The "Almodóvar of Design", as some people call him, has already, in just 5 years, had a retrospective exhibition at the Kortrijk Design Biennial in Belgium, and a monograph published by the German publisher Gestalten. He is considered by The Times Magazine and Wallpaper Magazine to be one of the most influential designers of the last decade. His creations retain the know-how of traditional craftsmanship while adding his own unique, whimsical style.

MAGIS
In 1976, Italian brand Magis began working on innovative projects from a technological and creative point of view. Magis is considered a true "design laboratory" thanks to its in-depth experiments. The brand has collaborated with some of the best-known names in design, such as Ron Arad, Konstantin Grcic and the infamous Chair One, as well as the Bouroullec brothers. The "Magis Style" creates an impression, whether in the form of small office accessories or outdoor furniture. In 2000, Jasper Morrison achieved a technological feat with his "Air Chair", the world's first single-hull, air-moulded chair. Magis considers itself a creative think tank for quality design.
