In the shape of a giant mouth, the red Bocca sofa is a 70s icon. Originally created in 1936 by Salvador Dali as a tribute to actress Mae West's mouth, it was redesigned in 1971 by Studio 65 to resemble Marilyn Monroe's lips. Now produced by Gufram, this sofa is made of polyurethane foam finished with a red elastic fabric covering which is washable at 40°. Not just a comfortable sofa or armchair, but a modern sculpture, Bocca is featured in a number of museum collections.
Gufram is an Italian furniture manufacturer. The brand contributed to the 60s movement, revolutionising designer furniture. Its product catalogue features bold, sculptured pieces influenced by pop art, naturalism and illusionism. Just like the Bocca sofa, an contemporary furniture icon, echoing a voluptuous pair of lips. Designed in 1972 by Guido Drocco and Franco Mello, the Cactus coat rack has also gained cult status. Resolutely avant-garde, Gufram produces products with a comforting and humorous edge. Most of its creations are exhibited in numerous galleries and museums including MoMa in New York.
