Editée sans interruption depuis 1957, la chaise Superleggera incarne la fusion entre la recherche du designer italien Gio Ponti et l'innovation avancée de la maison Cassina. Superleggera est une icône de la modernité et du raffinement artisanal. La chaise Superleggera tient son nom de sa légèreté exceptionnelle, obtenue grâce à l'utilisation du frêne, un bois léger et élastique qui compose sa structure, et à ses pieds fins de section triangulaire. Le frêne est associé à un cadre d'assise en hêtre, qui est quant à lui plus compact et résistant. Les éléments en bois de la chaise Superleggera sont soigneusement travaillés à la machine et finis à la main, mêlant ainsi artisanat et innovation industrielle au service de la création d'un "objet primaire" s'inspirant des chaises traditionnelles Chiavari. La chaise Superleggera de Cassina est disponible dans sa version classique avec assise cannée, mais se décline aussi avec une assise rembourrée.

CASSINA

Founded by Cesare and Umberto Cassina in Meda, near Milan, in 1927, Cassina produces designer chairs, tables, armchairs, sofas, beds, wardrobes and shelves. Cassina produces high-quality furniture inspired by industrial Italian design. Cassina was one of the first designer furniture companies to encourage architects and designers, such as Le Corbusier, to design new lines and translate their inspirations into reality, in the midst of a rich and complex era. Cassina has worked to convince designers and architects to explore new ways of expressing forms and working with materials, in order to make their visions reality and create unique designer furniture.
