Description
Created by designer Ron Arad for the company Nanimarquina, Do-Lo-Rez is a series of rugs inspired by pixelated images to create a stunning optical effect. The name Do-Lo-Rez comes from "low resolution". Hand-made using a "Hand-tufting" technique, each square that makes up the rug is added in one-by-one using a needle gun, and at a different height from those next to it. This assembly results in a very original set of depths that makes this rug a real work of art in your living room. Ron Arad has combined digital aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship to create Do-Lo-Rez. Do-Lo-Rez rugs are made of New Zealand wool, and come in red or grey tones for an extremely mind-bending floor print.

Ron ARAD
Born in 1951 in Tel Aviv, Israel, Ron Arad studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Jerusalem and then at the Architectural Association in London. In 1981, he founded his own studio "One Off Ltd." in London with Caroline Thorman, and began producing his unconventional furniture by hand, most of it in welded sheet steel, with a strong sculptural character. In 1989, together with Alison Brooks, a Canadian architect, he founded the firm Ron Arad Associates Ltd. In 1994, he founded the Ron Arad Studio in Como and was visiting professor of product design at the Technical University of Vienna until 1997. Since then, he has taught industrial design and furniture design at the Royal College of Art in London. Ron Arad's work is part of the permanent collection of many museums, from the MoMa in New York to the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Ron Arad works with leading brands such as Vitra, Magis, Kartell and Alessi, and his best-known creations include the Victoria & Albert collection for Moroso and the DO-LO-REZ rugs for Nanimarquina, with their astonishing optical effect.

NANIMARQUINA
In 1987, Nani Marquina founded a tapestry company in Barcelona with the philosophy of producing bespoke rugs in accordance with its strict requirements: to combine harmony and softness while using cutting-edge technologies. Rug company Nanimarquina collaborates with designers to create contemporary rugs, such as the Losanges collection by the Bouroullec brothers, both eclectic and colourful and made by craftsmen in Pakistan according to the specific technique used by Persian kilims. The designer's "creative fever" encourages her to draw inspiration from global cultures and traditions, which can be seen in the colours, shapes, models and patterns of the rugs.
