Designed in 1928, LC is a family of seating that has marked the history of design. Designers Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret have created an armchair that perfectly expresses the characteristic rationalism of modern design. LC1 is a small armchair with a tilting backrest with a light silhouette that perfectly complements the LC4 chaise longue and the Grand Confort armchair. The armchair is made up of a chrome steel base and leather strips to form the seat. The structure of the seat and backrest are self-supporting as they are fixed to the base by means of a series of tubular steel springs. The armrests, meanwhile, are simply rolled up around the ends. Perfect for the living room, the LC1 armchair is an example of both simplicity and functionality.
Founded by Cesare and Umberto Cassina in Meda, near Milan, in 1927, Cassina produces designer chairs, tables, armchairs, sofas, beds, wardrobes and shelves. Cassina produces high-quality furniture inspired by industrial Italian design.
Cassina was one of the first designer furniture companies to encourage architects and designers, such as Le Corbusier, to design new lines and translate their inspirations into reality, in the midst of a rich and complex era. Cassina has worked to convince designers and architects to explore new ways of expressing forms and working with materials, in order to make their visions reality and create unique designer furniture.
