Description
MainKai, ou Main River Quay en anglais, a été inspiré par les flotteurs de pêche et les bouées d'amarrage le long de la rivière Main à Francfort où le designer Sebastian Herkner a grandi. Le design du lampadaire Mainkai de Man of Parts a une présence éthérée qui s'atténue de façon homogène avec un bouton intégré sur sa tige. Avec ce luminaire sculptural, le designer suit véritablement le principe allemand du Bauhaus qui consiste à harmoniser le design et la fonction.

Sebastian HERKNER
Born in Germany in 1981, Sebastian Herkner studied Product Design at the University of Arts and Design in Offenbach, graduating in 2007. He founded his own eponymous studio in 2006, also in the same city, specialising in object and furniture design. Following an internship at Stella McCartney during his studies, he developed a real sensitivity to colours, materials and textures. "There is a sensibility and identity to my work that emphasises function, material and detail." Sebastian Herkner also works on interior architecture projects and museum exhibitions. His many collaborations testify to his talent, including ClassiCon with the famous Bell table, Moroso, Pulpo, Cappellini, Gubi, And Tradition, La Chance, Zanotta and Thonet. His curiosity for different cultures is reflected in his creations. He combines traditional craftsmanship with new technologies to achieve a certain balance. Winner of numerous awards, he has been named "Designer of the Year" by the Maison & Objet show in 2019.

Founded by Stephan Weishaupt, Man of Parts designs pieces that reflect those for whom design is integral to their multifaceted lives. In keeping with the founder's values, and by definition, a man of parts is unconstrained by boundaries, styles or roles. He seeks to gain different perspectives by exploring and being inspired by a range of places and activities. And Man of Parts therefore needs to reflect this.
