Description
Le plateau pliable Fatman, créé par Marcel Wanders et édité par Alessi, est un objet élégant, fonctionnel et ludique. Le designer a dirigé son attention sur la décoration en réalisant un habit coloré afin de vêtir le produit. Fermé, le plateau pliable Fatman est une sculpture de table et se transforme en plateau à étages lorsqu’il est ouvert. Ainsi, ce dernier n’a pas qu’une fonction pratique, il présente aussi une fonction esthétique. La décoration colorée, associée à la forme ronde, tend à mettre l’accent sur la perception formelle de l’objet. Fatman, comme son nom l'indique, présente les traits d’un homme au corps robuste, habillé comme un clown.

Marcel WANDERS
Born in the Netherlands in 1963, Marcel Wanders obtained his art degree from the Arnhem School of Art in 1988. He worked for two years in one of the leading Dutch design studios, and in 1992 became one of the four partners of WAAC's Design&Consultancies, rapidly becoming one of the most recognised studios in the Netherlands. Marcel Wanders founded Moooi in 2001 with Casper Vissers, whose designs are renowned for their originality and fun. The company has grown and collaborated with well-known designers such as Maarten Baas, Ross Lovegrove and Studio Job. The brand's creations can be found in many museums around the world, including MoMA in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Marcel Wanders creates furniture and decorative objects for some of the world's leading brands, including B&B Italia, Cappellini, Poliform, Magis (Cyborg armchair) and Baccarat, with its exceptional decanters and candleholders. Marcel Wanders is also called upon for architectural and interior design projects such as the Mondrian South Beach Hotel in Miami, and his collaboration with the Hyatt Hotels Corporation. Among his many awards, he received the prestigious Design Excellence Award for his significant contribution to the field of design in 2009.

ALESSI
In 1921, Giovanni Alessi founded the Italian company Alessi. Since 1929, the company has focussed on producing nickel- or silver-plated copper tableware. When Carlo Alessi, Giovanni's son, was appointed design director in 1935, handcrafting methods were replaced by industrial manufacturing. In 1955, the company began collaborating with world-renowned architects and designers such as Richard Sapper, Ettore Sottsass, and later, Philippe Starck and Marcel Wanders. Alessi makes design accessible by focussing on useful, humorous and visually appealing home accessories. Most of its products have become design classics that are sold and exhibited around the world.
