With Blu Velvet, brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana have created a small and very cosy armchair. Produced by Edra, it is distinguished by its particularly inviting and comfortable appearance. The seat has a removable quilted cotton velvet cover and the frame is made of varnished wood. Unique and elegant, the small Blu Velvet armchair will find its place in any room in the home.
Born in Sao Paolo, Fernando & Humberto Campana studied industrial design at the Brazilian Museum of Sculpture. They set up their own studio, where they developed their work based on diverting artisanal products and recycling industrial waste, poetically sublimating poor materials. From 1989, they took part in a number of exhibitions, including the 1st entitled "Desconfortaveis" in Sao Paolo. In 1997, in New York, they met Massimo Morozzi, artistic director of Edra, with whom they forged a special relationship that marked the beginning of a long collaboration. In 1998, the Vermelha armchair marked their 1st creation published by Edra. The Campana brothers create unique, handmade pieces that have found their way into international galleries and museums. Fernando & Humberto Campana became the best ambassadors of the Brazilian revival, collaborating with numerous firms such as Alessi on tableware accessories like the Blow Up baskets, lighting for O Luce, and furniture for Cappellini. In 2004, the Design Museum in London paid tribute to them with a retrospective exhibition that marked their worldwide success. The duo like to highlight the colours of their country and draw inspiration from the social mix, urban chaos and favelas. Their creativity knows no bounds in combining beauty and poverty in each of their projects, exploring the boundaries between art and design.
