La cafetière La Conica, dessinée entre 1980 et 1983, est la première pièce de design de l'architecte Aldo Rossi produite en masse pour la célèbre marque italienne Alessi. Cette cafetière emblématique connaît un succès immédiat et est devenue depuis un des symboles du design des années 80. Cette cafetière naît de l'opération « Tea & Coffee Piazza », qui avait vu de grands architectes s'engager sur le thème de la création d'un service à thé et à café. A l'image fortement iconique, La Conica est une vedette de la marque Officina Alessi. Aldo Rossi souhaitait en faire le symbole du rapport dialectique entre l'urbanisme et l'univers domestique pour devenir un objet architectural dans l'univers de la cuisine, à l'heure du café.

ALESSI

In 1921, Giovanni Alessi founded the Italian company Alessi. Since 1929, the company has focussed on producing nickel- or silver-plated copper tableware. When Carlo Alessi, Giovanni's son, was appointed design director in 1935, handcrafting methods were replaced by industrial manufacturing. In 1955, the company began collaborating with world-renowned architects and designers such as Richard Sapper, Ettore Sottsass, and later, Philippe Starck and Marcel Wanders. Alessi makes design accessible by focussing on useful, humorous and visually appealing home accessories. Most of its products have become design classics that are sold and exhibited around the world.
